On Friday, February 12, 2021, SEL4NJ held a Town Hall meeting for over 100 participants to share the results of a Landscape Analysis Project which looked at various aspects of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) as we broadly define it. This project started in 2019 with over 90 volunteers representing over 60 partner organizations looking at aspects including College and Career Readiness, Equity, Higher Education, Mental and Physical Health, Equity, Policy, SEL in the Arts, and School Implementation and Support. With the recent health crisis and societal concern about equity and systematic racism, we asked each of these groups to re-convene and again look at the landscape with a focus on the coronavirus and equity. During this Town Hall meeting, we shared some themes, priorities, and challenges that impact social emotional learning, academics, and the health and well-being of students and teachers alike. Documents from this meeting, including a video recording, are shared here. Each of the work groups will be holding separate breakout meetings over the next several weeks to more fully present and discuss the results of their group’s analysis.
